The Course
The swim is from the beach in front of The Pilchard Inn, Burgh Island to Bantham Quay, it is approx 2.2km with a fast stream
On entering the water at Bigbury swimmers must follow the line of boating buoys and then keep to the Bigbury (left side) of the water until Jenkins Quay (the pink/red thatched boathouse) is visible on the Bantham side of the estuary. At this point swimmers should switch to the Bantham side of teh water for the rest of the race.
The run will be from the Quay up the lane to Bantham. Do not panic if running is not your thing, most participants walk this part
Other Information
1. Swimmers swim and their own risk and wetsuits are recommended
2. All participants must be able to swim 2km in 50 minutes (or less), if a swimmer falls too far behind
the main group we reserve the right to remove that swimmer from the water to ensure everyone's
safety
3. BSLSC safety support will be available throughout the swim
4. Prizes for fastest under 50 male & female plus over 50 male & female and a big box of
chocolates for the 'best village' (this bit is just for fun)
5. Free swimming hat, pasty and pint for each participant
6.Please read our disclaimer (sorry - an important part of the modern world !) - you accept this as a
condition of entering the Aquathon
